central
valley
One of the most temperate
regions of the country, this area’s higher altitude makes for
a very pleasant climate that averages out at 77 F year round. As such
it is also where much of the country’s coffee plantations, vegetables,
fern, and fruit farms are located. Trout fishing and dairy farms are
also prevalent here.
In addition to the
bustling city streets and markets of the capital, charming cultural
enclaves such as Sarchi and Zarcero welcome visitors with their landscaped
town squares and folkloric handicrafts. The Central Valley also features
two volcanoes that offer dramatic views from their peaks. Verdant country
side and quaint villages make for pretty pastoral scenery in this region
of the country.
