Chirripó
National Park extends across tropical cloud forest terrain that spans
an area of 50,150 hectares (approximately 195 square miles) and is part
of La Amistad International Park (Costa Rica-Panama). Within the park
is Mount Chirripó, the highest mountain in Costa Rica and the
second highest mountain in Central America (3,820m/12,532 ft).
Its trails are for
the fit hiking enthusiast looking for a challenging multi day adventure.
A 3 day hike includes grueling rocky uphill stretches, dwarf cloud forests
draped in "Old Man's Beard" mosses and pockets of sparkling
lakes.
