Whitewater
Rafting
Costa Rica offers some of the best whitewater in the world!! Take
on thrilling rapids while descending scenic jungle waters that boast
prolific wildlife, lush rainforest, and incredible waterfalls. From
the novice paddler to the experienced boater; from half day trips
to multi-day expeditions; from mild to wild; your adventure vacation
to Costa Rica will not be complete without a day on the river with
our guides.
Three of our favorite whitewater
rafting trips:
Lower Pacuare
This adventure hitches a ride along the rapids of the lower Pacuare
River Gorge. The 17-mile class III and IV stretch of river makes
its way through lush jungle scenery with opportunities to explore
nearby waterfalls and observe wildlife. Top Pacuare
This expedition style whitewater rafting trip lets you paddle down
technical class IV rapids, learn about the local native culture,
and camp out under the stars deep inside the rainforest within the
Cabecar Native American Preserve. We lead guests by horseback into
the otherwise inaccessible river canyon - originally explored and
descended by IAU guides.
Pejibaye
Kayak Trip
This scenic kayak float trip is perfect for families with kids!
The calm class I and II waters of the Pejibaye River offers scenic
jungle, tropical atmosphere and is ideal for wildlife safari tours.
Wildlife Float Trips
Paddle down tranquil rivers that lead into otherwise inaccessible areas.
Leisurely take in the lush tropical surroundings and enjoy the opportunity
to paddle your own way along mangrove swamps, jungle canals and lowland
rainforest streams. The easy to maneuver sit on top kayaks make for
a non-intrusive way to approach the howler monkeys, crocodiles and three
toed sloths.
Scenic
Waterways:
Penas Blancas Safari Float
Float through the primary forest of the Penas Blancas River valley.
Seventy species of birds as well as kinajous, howler monkeys and peccaries
make their home along the river banks and are among the wildlife species
you'll have a chance to observe.
Tortuguero
National Park
Discover the extensive lowland swamp and rainforests of the Tortuguero
National Park. We glide into the wildlife sanctuary aboard a private
vessel that skims the silvery waters quietly. Travelling by small
boat allows us to explore otherwise inaccessible waterways, making
it possible to observe the abundant wildlife in this area. Possible
sighting here includes ocelots, Scarlet Macaws, sloths, crocodiles,
and troops of howler monkeys.
